Next CPIA Conference Scheduled for 2011

Ottawa, April 20, 2010…

The Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA) announced today that the next scheduled National Conference - known as Strategy - will take place in Banff, Alberta in 2011.

The economy played a major factor in this decision not to hold a conference in 2010 as CPIA recognized that its members have been stretched by the recession. The CPIA has also felt the impact of a tough economy however.

"Like many companies in our industry the economy in 2009 had a significant effect on CPIA", commented Bob Elliott, CPIA President. "This decision will allow the printing economy as a whole to more completely recover through 2010 and CPIA will take advantage of that time as well to ensure it will host a most successful conference in 2011. Our members will be spared the expense of a conference this year and will be able to stay close to their businesses at a time when that attention is much needed."

"This will not change the other activities that CPIA undertakes throughout this year such as its federal government relations activities on behalf of the industry and the provision of benefits and services to its members", said Elliott. "We will continue to be diligent about government policies and laws that could affect what our members do each and every day."

An announcement specifying dates of the conference will be made once that decision has been taken.

The Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA) is the national voice of the pre-press, press and allied printing industries in Canada. Since 1939, the Association has served as the collective body to represent the interests of its member firms for policy formation, regulation and legislation. Through a network of Formally Affiliated Regional Associations (FARAs) across the country and related organizations, CPIA provides management and information services to enhance the efficiency and profitability of its member firms. The Association also provides industry leaders with a forum for information exchange and acts as an effective voice when making representations to government.
